Congressman Dave Loebsack Applauds Iowa for Ranking No. 7 in the US for Being Bicycle Friendly
Thursday, May 27, 2010
IOWA CITY, IA – Congressman Dave Loebsack applauds Iowa for ranking number 7 in the United States for being bicycle friendly. In a report by the League of American Bicyclists, Iowa was ranked near the top of the list.
“I applaud Iowans for their efforts to improve conditions for cyclists,” said Loebsack. “Bicycling plays a vital role in our transportation system and giving people choices for commuting and recreation, in addition to helping families maintain a healthy lifestyle. This is also evident in Iowans’ continued support and excitement for the Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) each year which is the oldest, largest and longest bicycle touring event in the world.”
“This is good news for Iowa. We look forward to continuing to work with local, state, and federal partners so that we can continue to create a
bicycle friendly state,” said Tom and Wanda Berg, co-founders of the Johnson County Trail Foundation.
